Excitement for the shooting of Deadpool 2 has come to a complete and utter standstill today when a female stunt driver suddenly died on set in Vancouver, Canada, during a motorcycle stunt gone wrong. TMZ reported the news, along with an audio recording of the 9-1-1 call, detailing the crash as the woman was seen going airborne through a glass windowpane just before she was pronounced dead.
Multiple witnesses stated that the woman on the motorcycle wasn’t moving after she lost control of the motorcycle due to allegedly not applying the brakes before crashing through the glass window. The name of the stuntdriver has yet to be released, along with many other details at this time, however, it was reported that Vancouver Police Department officers were at the scene of the accident, along with five officers from WorkSafeBC.
The area has since been closed down by authorities, and many have expressed their deepest condolences for the stunt driver and her family. A spokesperson from 20th Century Fox revealed in a statement to E! News, QUOTE, “We are deeply saddened by the accident that occurred on the set of Deadpool 2 this morning. Our hearts and prayers are with the family, friends and colleagues of our crew member during this difficult time.”
And Deadpool himself, Ryan Reynolds, shared a heartfelt message via Twitter, writing, “Today, we tragically lost a member of our crew while shooting Deadpool. We’re heartbroken, shocked and devastated… but recognize nothing can come close to the grief and inexplicable pain her family and loved ones must feel in this moment. My heart pours out to them – along with each and every person she touched in this world.”
This tragedy comes exactly one month after stunt actor, John Bernecker, passed away from injuries due to a fall on the set of “Walking Dead.” The cast later paid tribute to him later during their ComicCon panel last month.
There is no word yet whether or not production on Deadpool will be put off for the time being, but at this time, we here at Clevver, are also sending our deepest condolences to the stunt driver and her family.
