Kendrick Lamar opens the 2017 VMA’s and sets the stage on fire.
No guys literally, the stage and performers were on fire. The performance was lit. It was hot. You get the point.

Kung Fu Kenny recently told MTV News that the pressure was definitely on since the VMAs have so many viewers. Well, let’s just say he did not disappoint. Kendrick has eight nominations at this years VMA’s including Video of the Year, Best Direction, and more making him the most nominated this year. He also is up for a new award, Artist of the Year, against Katy Perry, The Weeknd, Bruno Mars, Ariana Grande, and Ed Sheeran. Let’s get back to his insane performance though. Kendrick opened with his song DNA which included laser lights that brought the focus straight to Kendrick until the ninjas and smoke appeared and then this happened.
It was after this that the performance became explosive in a great way. Kendrick transitioned into Humble and then more ninjas appeared climbing a fence on fire.
I’m still over here trying to recover from the performance because Kendrick has such a commanding presence on stage that makes you want to listen. Never one to shy away tough issues like racism and politics in this country, Kendrick was the perfect artist to open the show.
All I can say is that performance was way too crazy and Kendrick you do amaze me each and every time. Overall it was an amazing performance, but I want to hear your thoughts. What did you think about the performance? Let us know in the comments section below, and then click right over here to see the Best Dressed from this year’s VMA’s ! I’m your host Emile Ennis Jr.!
