So just what is it that’s making Fenty Beauty such a huge success? Well, for starters, when the brand launched earlier this month, RiRi told Refinery 29, QUOTE, “I also wanted things that girls of all skin tones could fall in love with. In every product I was like, ‘There needs to be something for a dark-skinned girl; there needs to be something for a really pale girl; there needs to be something in-between.’”
Well, it certainly seems like she got what she wanted! Fenty Beauty offers products in 40 unique shades with a wide variety of undertones, so ladies… the search for the perfect shade is FINALLY over! But is RiRi’s brand really the first to offer such an inclusive variety? Well, according to an Instagram post by Make Up For Ever, they did it first! Wait… whaaat?!
That’s right! The brand posted a photo yesterday CLEARLY throwing shade Rihanna’s way, saying, QUOTE, “40 shades is nothing new to us—since 2015, the #ultraHDfoundation released 40 shades for everyone’s unique skin tone understanding the difference between red and yellow undertones.”
Since the post went live on Make Up For Ever’s Instagram account, the Rihanna Navy has been DRAGGING the brand… and HARD. And as you can imagine, it didn’t take long for Bad Gal herself to jump in on the drama. But let’s be real… with 40 different shades under her belt, it’s clear that she knows A LOT about shade.
Rih clapped back simply by commenting, “lol. still ashy,” and “shook,” and fans were LIVING for her salty reaction. Those may just be a few words but the message is clear: do NOT mess with Rihanna.
