Stranger Things is a show that has become a cultural phenomenon, and it’s no wonder that so many people want to dress up as characters from the show, especially given their iconic 80s looks. But one company has created a Stranger Things costume that’s got social media outraged, and for very good reason–a sexy “Eleven” costume.
The “Upside Down Honey” costume, as Yandy.com has generically dubbed it, features a super short pink dress and thigh-high rollerskate style socks that definitely mimicks Eleven’s iconic Stranger Things getup, but is just downright inappropriate considering the fact that Eleven is a CHILD. We’ve seen fictional characters get the “sexy” Halloween costume treatment for years–including Disney characters–but Eleven is a real girl, and the idea of objectifying Millie Bobby Brown’s character like this has a lot of fans justifiably upset.
One fan tweeted QUOTE, “just in case you haven’t reached ur breaking point in 2017 yet, plz enjoy this sexy “eleven” halloween costume”, while another wrote QUOTE, “Don’t make an 11-year-old sexy. it’s easy to remember. HER NAME IS ELEVEN”. Yup, really not hard to figure that one out. Another angry fan tweeted QUOTE, “STOP SEXUALISING CHILDREN AND RELIGIOUS FIGURES FOR HALLOWEEN!!! IF I SEE ONE MORE SEXY ELEVEN OR NUN IM GONNA FIGHT SOMEONE!!!”
It kind of makes you wonder how this costume actually went from design to approval to production–but then again, Yandy.com also has a sexy “Fake News” costume and a sexy Pikachu costume, so maybe we shouldn’t be so surprised.
Okay guys, now I wanna hear YOUR reaction to the sexy Eleven costume–are you shocked or are you not surprised at all.
