Due to the Santa Ana winds and dry weather, wild fires have been raging in the Northern California area, which also happens to be where 13 Reasons Why is filmed. So for safety reasons, production of the show was shut down. Cast and crewmembers are being been flown home in the meantime, as many live in areas that are being affected be the fires. There have been over twenty wildfires just in the past week and they have not yet been contained.
The unexpected filming hiatus due to these fires is set to end on Thursday, according to Deadline. Though it is reported production of the show won’t actually start back up until Sunday, as Friday and Saturday were already planned days off.
During this difficult time for Northern California, cast members of 13 Reasons Why took to twitter to share their support to those affected. Dylan Minnette, who plays Clay Jensen on the show, tweeted QUOTE “We film 13 Reasons Why in many of the areas in NorCal affected by these devastating fires. Sending love and thoughts to everyone involved.” Devin Druid, who plays Tyler Down, also showed some love, writing QUOTE “The NorCal/Bay Area has been my home for almost a year while filming @13ReasonsWhy. My heart goes out to all affected by these awful fires.”
The Netflix drama is set to return in 2018, most likely sometime in March. There has been no word on whether or not this hiatus will affect the show’s return date, so we will just have to wait and see. On behalf of everyone here at Clevver, our thoughts are with everyone dealing with these devastating wild fires right now. Make sure to show your support in the comments below. As always, I’m your girl Renee, and I’ll see you next time.
